The Department of Defense has identified 3,407 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans yesterday:

BAUM, Ryan J., 27, Sgt., Army; Aurora, Colo.; 25th Infantry Division.

BROWN, Scott J., 33, Sgt. First Class, Army; Windsor, Colo.; 82nd Airborne Division.

FONTANILLA, Victor M., 23, Pfc., Army; Stockton, Calif.; 25th Infantry Division.

MARTINEZ, Anselmo III, 26, Sgt., Army; Robstown, Tex.; First Cavalry Division.

McCANTS, Marquis J., 23, Specialist, Army; San Antonio; 82nd Airborne Division.

NASH, Casey W., 22, Specialist, Army; Baltimore; First Cavalry Division.

PHELPS, Coty J., 20, Specialist, Army; Kingman, Ariz.; 25th Infantry Division.

ROMERO, Joshua G., 19, Specialist, Army; Crowley, Tex.; First Cavalry Division.
